A major research project revealed the negative reputation of the Church. The research shows that Christians are best knows for what they are against. We are perceived as being judgmental, antihomosexual, and too political. And young people are quick to point out they believe that Christianity is no longer as Jesus intended.

This information breaks my heart. It is shouldn’t be this way; however if it is, we have a tremendous opportunity to turn around the negative perception and show the world what God is like. No longer can we be inward focused. The time has come to go outside. And I literally mean outside.

The world needs to see that we are not religious, ritual fanatics. We are people just like them that have a relationship with Jesus Christ. We enjoy good music and good food. We like having fun. So beginning in June, the first Sunday of the summer months we are going outside to the parking lot to have service. The Sundays are June 6th, July 4th (plan for a big one here), and August 1st. We will slide the service time up to 10:00 AM on these days.

If we are going to make this happen, EVERYONE is needed. I need someone to be in charge of food, set up, parking, clean up, and advertisement. Umbrellas and canopy tents are needed to provide shade. You are needed to make this happen. Are you available?

ONEeighty is a mission opportunity. It is about hearing a call to go and serve, not be served. ONEeighty is an opportunity to do something no one else is doing. So that means we have to do things that no one else is doing like going outside the walls of the church to show what God is really like. I need you to share your thoughts and ideas with me.

Email me or give me a call 675-8584.

My prayer is that we are able to look at this opportunity and say that we, the Church, have enough courage to take risks that will make the world do a ONEeighty and discover Jesus.
